§ 01
Plain-English summary
Bloomwise is free to read. Some of the links we publish (mostly to seeds, tools, and starter plants) are affiliate links. If you click one and end up buying something, the merchant pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. Those commissions fund the editorial work, but they never change which plant we recommend to you.
§ 02
Who gets paid
DFK Helper LLC, the company that operates Bloomwise, is the recipient of every affiliate commission generated on the Site. No individual writer or reviewer is paid per click or per sale.
§ 03
Networks and merchants we work with
We participate in the following affiliate networks and merchant programs. This list is kept up to date as new partnerships begin or end.
- Amazon Services LLC Associates Program: an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
- Impact: the Home Depot affiliate program and a handful of independent garden merchants are attributed through Impact.
- FlexOffers: Burpee, Park Seed, and a rotating list of US seed and tool merchants are attributed through FlexOffers.
- CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction): broader garden-category merchants including Eartheasy and Nature Hills Nursery.
§ 04
How we label affiliate links
Every affiliate link on Bloomwise carries a visible “#ad” marker. The underlying HTML uses rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" as required by the FTC guidance and Google’s link attribution rules.
Outbound affiliate clicks go through a short-lived redirect at /go/[productId], which lets us log the click for our own analytics, append the tracking parameters the network needs, and forward you on to the merchant. We do not attach any personal identifier to those click logs.
§ 05
How affiliate income affects editorial decisions
It does not. The recommendation engine that powers the onboarding wizard and the /plants catalogue is rule-based: it scores plants on hardiness match, light, space, colour, beginner-friendliness, and pet safety. It has no knowledge of which merchants are affiliated with us and no weight for affiliate status.
Editorial content (plant profiles, care guides, seasonal how-tos, and the Plant Doctor chatbot) is written or reviewed by humans under an editorial policy that forbids recommending products we have not independently assessed.
If a merchant relationship ever changes what we would recommend, we will either drop the merchant or drop the recommendation. We will not quietly fold it in.
§ 06
Prices, availability, and seller of record
Prices and stock we show on Bloomwise are snapshots taken when a page is rendered. They can be stale by the time you click through. Always confirm the final price, availability, and shipping terms on the merchant’s page before you buy.
The merchant, not Bloomwise, is the seller of record for any purchase you make. Returns, refunds, warranties, and shipping are handled entirely by the merchant under their own terms.
§ 07
Your choices
You are never required to click an affiliate link to use Bloomwise. You can:
- Copy the plant name and search your preferred merchant directly.
- Decline non-essential cookies in our cookie banner, which also disables the short-lived click tracking that the affiliate networks rely on.
- Use a browser extension that strips affiliate tags. We will still earn nothing for your visit, and you will still get the same content.
§ 08
Questions
If you have questions about a specific affiliate link, a missing disclosure, or the program generally, email hello@bloomwise.app. If you believe we have failed to comply with the FTC Endorsement Guides, please say so in the message. We take compliance seriously and will investigate promptly.
